Life in Vientiane

This story based on the true story, plus imagination of the writer:


Luang Phabang is one the famous province in Laos, where the world heritage site, has many historical sites and beautiful scenery such as Poosy stupa, National palace, and Xiangthong temple. Before it becomes the peaceful city today, it has an interesting history that keeps secretly for million years.


The secret is sleeping mountains, which look like one woman and a man sleeping in opposite way, well known for all Laung Phabang people, they called it “Poothao and Poonang”. So, I will lead you to discover what happen in the past and why is happen?
By telling this story call “Lothasane & Mayree.”


Once upon the time, at that time we do not have our own country exactly. One area has many cities, which has human and inhuman live together. There was one city, located in the middle Laos today, surrounded by mountains and deep jungle. Normal people cannot live there because it is a place for giant people city call “Kanghao Nakon.”


There was one powerful woman who was giant controlled Kanghao Nakon; she was about 500 year olds. However, she did not have any son or daughter. Therefore, she went to everywhere to find children and bring them to her city as her true son or daughter.


One day while she was finding for food with her ten servants, she found a lovely baby cried inside the big lotus, she was very happy and appreciated with baby and thought that the angel lived in the heaven might gave her a baby. No time to waste, she brought a baby girl with her immediately and raised her with her true love and best caring.


Seventeen years later, a baby girl grown up and became the most beautiful woman in the city, she had long dark haired, white mix a little pink skin and together with fragrant smell on her body. Because of loving a girl too much, the queen gave her name as Mayree. Although she was a princess, she did not happy because her whole life, she never seen any men came to her city, which eventually she felt lonely and sadly in the big palace.


Next, the queen died because of too old; but before she died, she gave her daughter one thing, which was a human eye. She told her daughter to keep it secretly and did not give to others because soon there will have a men came to the palace to take it. Otherwise, do not give him that eye. Mayree promised her mother and kept it secretly. Finally, her mother pass away and she became the queen next.


At the same area and period, there was a man, who was seventeen -old boy. He was a son of the king in one city. Unfortunately, he was banished to live far form the palace with his blind mother, his name’s” Lothasane”.


Lothasane loved his mother very much; everyday he found foods and water to her mother in the cave. Because of being gratitude son, there was old hermit who live in the forest told him about his mother life in the past and the cause of her being blind. Lothasane knew his mother life clearly that her mother the right eye was took out because once his mother was a daughter of the powerful giant queen, his mother betrayed the queen by escaped. Therefore, the giant queen banished her by took one eyes and kept it in “Kanghao Nakon”. After the secret was reveal, she took a white horse and ask some magic form the old hermit and said good-bye to his mother to Kanghao Nakon, where his mother eye kept.


The story is not end. What will happen next? Will he get his mother eye or not? What is the end of this story? To be continued in Part II: “the war of love.” Coming soon!
